What does it take for a leader to not only survive but thrive in the midst of rapid and profound change within the church and a 21st century Canada?

In Emerging Spirit's conversations and work with church leaders a range of concerns have emerged. The broadest include questions that push to the core understanding of leadership.

  • Is there a compelling vision for The United Church of Canada--nationally or congregationally--in the 21st century?
  • What would success look like as a leader?
  • And what would it take to reach that goal?

Other questions focus on the knowledge, skills, and character attributes that a leader must cultivate in the postmodern cauldron.

Still others look for examples of leadership in others and the opportunity to learn from and with them.

Emerging Leadership is a developing section of the Emerging Spirit website which deals with concerns that make a difference to the life and ministry of front line United Church leaders.
