Crescent Fort Rouge Bus Stop Outreach

Many United Church congregations across Canada are using the WonderCafe and Emerging Spirit concept to launch innovative outreach projects in their communities.

Thanks for Bill Gillis of Crescent Fort Rouge United Church in Winnipeg who sent us pictures of the bus stop advertisements his church did to lift up their ministries.

Bill writes that, "Three benches were rented and all are located near bus stops in the vicinity of the church. They get some major traffic exposure. The congregation was having a major used book sale in September so had bookmarks made with the same inscription on one side and some more church info on the other. We do serve coffee at the main entry prior to service and that has become very well-received by long-term attenders and newer folk (and yes, coffee can be and is taken into the sanctuary). Our regular church sign from time to time has also had some 'catchy' welcoming phrases."

For more examples of ways United Church congregations are using WonderCafe as a way to connect with their neighbours, see the Best Practices section of this website. If your church is using WonderCafe materials, please post your story in Best Practices and share your experience with others!

You can also access a collection of WonderCafe material to use in your own community for Christmas here, or for any other occasion.
