The power of blessing others.

Reggie McNeal says 'we don't need a new evangelism strategy. What we need is a blessing strategy.'
Here's an example of the power of blessing.

What Are You Doing in Response to the Atheist Bus Ads?

Here in Ottawa the atheist bus ads have been in the papers. We responded by putting up on our sign "There is a God, so stop worrying and enjoy your life." It got us quite the positive response.

This story also ran in the London Free Press and a few other papers across the country. In the Ottawa paper we got a full colour picture on page 3. The story and our sign were also mentioned in a phone in show on local talk radio station CFRA, and in a feature interview on Radio-Canada.

Who Claims Our Loyalty?

Who Claims Our Loyalty?
David Milne

“It is better to trust in the Lord than to depend on human leaders.” Psalm 118, v. 19

I was reading this psalm on the morning of the day when the new President, Barack Obama, arrived in Ottawa. My memory stirred up the image of another new President.

About fifty years ago President Kennedy took office. In his early forties, he was extremely young for the office. Moreover, he was a Roman Catholic, the first ever to become President. In a fit of hyperbole the press likened his administration to Camelot, an idyllic place of happiness and enlightenment. As an idealistic teenager, and even though Canadian, I shared that dream.

From An Other's Perspective

“Could something be going on out there? Could something be up? Are other voices speaking than those we are accustomed to hearing? Could it be that God is on the loose and whispering to others?

Teacher Application/Registration Forms?

What best practices do you have around acquiring new church school teachers.

We have a number of new folks and new families, which has helped bring out church school back to life. It is a wonderful situation to be in; however, acquiring teachers from a pool of folks we don't know that well has introduced some challenges.

I'm feeling the need for a teacher application or registration form. Also, I wonder if an interview process would show that them that we do due diligence around the kids.

Note: to-date, we have built in an informal interview process & peer recommendation. In addition, most we have contacted know others and/or are teachers in our local public schools. I'm not concerned about current risk; however, would like to set a standard to follow.

Anyone seen these in books or have any they have designed?

Once we get past that hurdle, I will post some of our thoughts / plans around teacher training.
